The best wood, or fuel, depends on your heating system. Options include smokeless coal, kiln-dried logs, and kindling for wood-burning stoves or open fires.
Consider factors like the type of wood, moisture content, and your specific heating needs. Hardwood logs like oak and ash are great for long-lasting heat.
Firewood should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated area, ideally in a log store or under a waterproof cover.
Hardwood logs burn longer and produce more heat, while softwood logs light quickly and are great for kindling.
Firewood is ready to burn if it has a moisture content of 20% or less. Kiln-dried logs are pre-dried and ready to use.
Use kindling and firelighters to create a base, then add smaller logs or smokeless coal to build the fire gradually.
